Day 1:
The Welsh borders of Shropshire aren’t too far from anywhere and are easily accessible by car, train, bus or bike. An adventurer’s dream; less travel more play!
However you choose to travel our comfortable accommodation will be waiting to greet you for a good night’s sleep. Get in, get organised and get some sleep as you’ll be waking up a new person… a climber!
Day 2:
Climbers say “fast and light is right” but please eat and then buy what you need to keep your energy levels up. A fully cooked breakfast is provided, then lunch and snacks are your choice.
After meeting your climbing instructor, your “become a climber” course will start with a familiarisation of the basic equipment you need and how to use it.
Next up is the venue, some dos and don’ts and a chance to set your personal goals for the day as your instructor points out “crag Beta” (climb info). You’ll learn how to climb up and how to come back down. You learn how to do buddy-buddy checks, hold the ropes and belay your climbing partners safely.
Towards the end of the day there is the opportunity to try an abseil and control your own decent speed, all safely backed up by our climbing instructors.
Once you’ve finished your day’s climbing of being high and low, go soothe your worked fingers and tired toes. In the evening take time in the bath or the local bar, because you deserve it. You’re halfway to becoming a climbing star!
Your addicted climbing buddies will be local if you fancy organising an evening meal or drink together.
Day 3:
Pack up your bags, check out and go fulfil your destiny as a climber…
Climb higher, climb smoother and with more style as you recall the tips and learn new tricks! This day will consolidate your climbing, refresh your skills and help you understand how to make decisions and become autonomous in different situations. This day is full of smiles as things really click and your movements become really slick.
Next, there’s the REALLY BIG Abseil! You’ll be so high up you’ll feel like we’ve taken you up to the sky! A 100 foot (30 metre) vertical walk later leaves you feeling proud, astounded and confident in your own ability to finish the day!
The instructors can help you choose one of our other progressive climbing adventures. Plus, if you want to head to your local climbing wall and enjoy your new evening addiction, we can advise which climbing gear (such as shoes/a harness) would be best to buy.
* Day 3 can be tailored to your travelling needs, so if you have a 3pm train or a long journey please don’t hesitate to ask.

The weather is highly changeable in the mountains so we advise you to pack everything listed on the kit list – you could be walking in a t-shirt and an hour later need a full fleece and waterproofs on. Your guide will let you know pre-departure if the weather conditions are particularly extreme but as this trip is in the summer months, you should expect a mix of sun, rain and wind.
Breakfast is either a cooked breakfast or continental and for dinner there is a range of fabulous local eateries for you to try. Please tell us pre-departure of any dietary requirements.
It’s classed as Warming Up. Climbing is not an easy activity, if you are a regular mountain walker, you’ll find this a fun and more interesting way to get to the top! Being balanced and sure on your feet helps and be ready to push your comfort zone to the max!
